Tampa General Hospital, Florida Deploys Whole Blood Drone Delivery Program

Tampa General Hospital (TGH) announced a program to deliver whole blood by drone to emergency scenes before consumers reach the hospital. Developed with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the University of South Florida (USF) Health Morsani College of Medicine, the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services, OneBlood, and Archer First Response Systems, the initiative is scheduled to begin operations in October 2026, subject to county approval.
