Tennessee Launches Department Of Disability & Aging In July
Tennessee’s new, cabinet-level Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) state agency opened as of July 1, 2024. The agency is responsible for the oversight of services and supports for more than 1.5 million older adults and individuals with disabilities.
DDA includes more than 1,800 employees and hundreds of community-based providers. The services and programs overseen by DDA include:
Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) for children ages birth through age 5
Part B of the Katie Beckett Program for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities under the age of 18
