Texas Begins Construction On New North Texas State Hospital
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) recently began construction in Wichita Falls, Texas, on a new hospital to replace the existing North Texas State Hospital in Wichita Falls. The new facility for the inpatient psychiatric hospital is expected to be completed in late 2027. ;
The state legislature approved $452 million in funding for facility. Under current plans, it would have 200 beds, including 24 maximum-security, 136 non-maximum-security, 24 adolescent, and 16 civil commitments. ;
