Texas Establishes ‘Building Better Futures Program’ To Fund Transition Planning & Postsecondary Programs For Students With I/DD

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is implementing a grant program to establish the new Building Better Futures Program to provide funding and resources to post-secondary institutions offering comprehensive transition and postsecondary (CTP) programs for students with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). CTPs are intended to support students as they pursue educational and occupational skills training at colleges and career schools. As of June 2025, only four CPT programs operated in the state, according to news reports.
