Three Massachusetts Health Systems Sign Purchase Agreements For Four Steward Hospitals 

Three Massachusetts health systems signed asset purchase agreements (APA) for four Steward Hospitals in the state. During May 2024, Steward filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It is looking for buyers for its hospitals. 

Boston Medical Center (BMC) recently signed an APA to acquire and operate Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton from Steward Hospitals. In addition, Lawrence General Hospital signed APAs to were signed to transfer ownership of both campuses of Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill and Methuen. Lifespan signed an APA to transfer ownership of Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River and Morton Hospital in Taunton.
