UCI Health―Irvine To Be The Nation’s First All-Electric Acute Care Hospital 

In December 2025, California’s UCI Health will open its first all-electric acute care hospital: UCI Health– Irvine. The organization stated that this is the nation’s first “all-electric” hospital. The 144-bed facility, situated next to the San Joaquin Marsh, will merge high-technology with thoughtful design that incorporates the outdoors to promote comfort and healing. This will be the academic health system’s sixth hospital. The new hospital will serve people living in Orange County, western Riverside County, and southeast Los Angeles County.
