University Of North Florida Adds Behavioral Health Nurse Doctoral Program
Funded by a $900,000 grant from six area health care systems, the University of North Florida's Brooks College of Health will offer a doctoral program to train behavioral health nurse practitioners. The program is largely in response to a 2014 Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. which found that Florida ranked 49th of 50 states in per-capita funding for mental health in 2012, and northeast Florida ranked as the second-lowest-funded region in the state after a total of $20 million in state funding cuts between 2010 and 2012.
