UnitedHealth Names Former GSK CEO Andrew Witty As Optum Head
UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UnitedHealth) recently announced Andrew Witty as the new chief executive of Optum, its pharmacy benefit unit. Mr. Witty—who will immediately step down from the company’s board—will officially begin work in his new role on July 1.
Larry Renfro, the current CEO of Optum, will go on to lead investment initiatives for the unit, according to statements from the company. Included in the initiatives are efforts such as $100 million in funding for advanced technology, data analytics, and health care services companies.
