Wisconsin Legislature Approves 5% Medicaid HCBS Rate Increase, Effective January 1, 2022

Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee (JFC) formally approved a request by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) for a 5% rate increase for Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS) provider organizations. This increase is effective January 1, 2022.

The rate increases will be funded with savings resulting from enhanced federal funding available to the state under the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. JFC will consider whether these rate increases will be maintained after March 31, 2024, as part of its 2023 through 2025 budget deliberations.
