Edgar P. Nace, M.D., has published a study, Inpatient Treatment Of Alcoholism: A Necessary Part Of The Therapeutic Armamentarium, (Winter, 1990 issue of The Psychiatric Hospital) that maintains that flaws exist in some widely cited research that evaluates inpatient and outpatient treatment of alcoholism. Dr. Nace, who is chief of service for the Substance Abuse Programs at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas Texas, focused on the studies by Annis and by Longabaugh, outlining why their conclusions are unfounded . . .
