Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency Terminates Contract With Magellan Behavioral Health

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News In December 2002, the Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency (DWCCMHA) terminated without cause its agreement with Magellan Behavioral Health. The contract, signed in June of 2001, stated that Magellan would manage mental health and substance abuse benefits for DWCCMHA beneficiaries for four years, starting September 12, 2001. Since then, Magellan has provided administrative services, including authorization, utilization management, care coordination, and claims administration for 400,000 county citizens who have mental illnesses, addictive disorders, and developmental disabilities, through a new Magellan service center opened in Detroit . . .
