Five States Awarded Title IV-E Foster Care Waivers
OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News On March 31, 2006, the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) approved Title IV-E foster care waivers for Iowa, Michigan, Virginia, California, and Florida. The waivers were issued just before the expiration of HHS authority to approve such waivers. The waivers were granted under Section 1130 of the Social Security Act, which authorized HHS to approve up to ten new child welfare waiver demonstration projects each year.
