NAMI Toll-Free Helpline Receives 20,000 Calls in First Quarter

The toll-free HELP-LINE established by the National Alliance For The Mentally Ill (NAMI) in October of 1990 received nearly 20,000 telephone calls in its first quarter of operation. Most of the callers have been referred to NAMI’s local support groups as well as receiving information on the telephone and brochures about mental illness by mail.

The HELP-LINE is staffed between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST on weekdays . . .
