Details Of President’s New Drug Treatment Initiative Unveiled

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News On January 29, 2003, director John P. Walters of the National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) announced details of President Bush's new three-year, $600 million initiative to expand drug addiction treatment by using vouchers. The initiative is expected to help 300,000 drug and alcohol addicts lacking financial resources for recovery to receive the treatment they need. The new Access to Recovery Initiative will use $200 million each year for the next three years, giving vouchers to individual addicts to utilize federal alcohol and drug abuse dollars . . .
