North Carolina DHHS Cancels Medicaid Contract, Opens for Re-Bidding

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News On April 14, 2005, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Secretary Carmen Hooker Odom announced that she was canceling the state's Medicaid contract and would open the process for re-bidding. The contract, for authorization of payment for Medicaid mental health services, was awarded to ValueOptions, Inc., in February 2005. After the awarding of the contract to ValueOptions, two other companies, Magellan Health Services and APS Healthcare, protested the award.
