On May 31, 2005, the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) awarded seven private agencies performance-based contracts to provide case management services for more than 1,900 children in the custody of the DSS's Children's Division. Contracts were awarded to:

• Cornerstones of Care to manage 312 cases in the Kansas City area
• Family Advocates to manage 168 cases in the Kansas City area
