Federal Judge Partially Dismisses Class-Action Lawsuit Against HMOs

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News In June 2001, a federal judge in Miami, Florida partially dismissed nearly a dozen suits seeking class-action status on behalf of health-plan members against the health maintenance organization industry. The suits were filed in 1999 against the nation's leading insurance companies by a consortium of lawyers.
