The necessity of using DSM-III or ICD-9-CM coding for behavioral health treatment varies by insurance company, according to a recently- published report entitled Reimbursement Strategies. According to the report, insurance companies that will accept either DSM-III or ICD-9-CM include Allstate, American General, GEHA, Provident, Prudential, State Farm and Travelers.
