A bill (AB 1692) sponsored by Assemblyman Bruce Bronzan to cover certain mental illnesses on the same basis as other brain disorders has been signed into law in California by Governor Deukmejian. The law will go into effect January 1, 1990. The effect of the law will be to provide coverage equal to that of most illnesses for a limited number of mental illnesses. The specific mental illnesses covered by the act are: Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, bipolar and delusional . . .
