A class action suit has been filed against Hawaiis state health department by the Handicapped Rights Project, an organization funded by the Hawaii Bar Foundation. The lawsuit by several current and former mental patients at the Hawaii State Hospital asks for the creation of a grievance procedure for patients and alleges that patients have been denied constitutional rights, according to a report that appeared in the October 23 issue of Health Week.
