OPEN MINDS The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry Statistics An OPEN MINDS study has revealed distinct regional differences in average lengths of stay (ALOS) for behavioral health conditions. An analysis of National Health Survey data for the number of discharges and days of inpatient care for the various ailments falling under the general category of “Mental Disorders” in the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, indicates significant regional variations in ALOS for the same disease categories.
