Two psychotropic drugs, Xanax and Valium, rank 9th and 15th, respectively, in the top 25 prescription drugs in the United States. The drugs were ranked by estimated percentage of the 1988 U.S. market dollar volume in Medical Advertising News 33rd Annual Prescription.
