JCAHO Establishes New Accreditation Standards for BHOs

OPEN MINDS, The Behavioral Health & Social Service Industry Analyst Industry News Behavioral health organizations (BHO) are soon to become a part of the Joint Commission's major performance measurement initiative—ORYX: The Next Evolution in Accreditation. According to an article in the August, 1998 edition of NMTP Visions, the Joint Commission, at its February meeting, established new requirements for behavioral health care organizations, including free-standing psychiatric hospitals that relate to the use of performance measurement, as part of the accreditation process.
