South Carolina Mental Institution Meets Court-Ordered Improvement Order

South Carolinas largest mental institution, located in Columbia, met a court-imposed July 2 deadline to comply with a 1986 consent decree by the U.S. Justice Department to improve patient care and reduce crowding. According to a report in the July 16, 1990 issue of Health Week, the state spent $20 million on the improvements.
