Many have compared the recent election results identifying Donald Trump as the next U.S. President with those of a previous era, when Ronald Reagan won in 1980. But to me, it compares to an earlier transition, when Nixon took control in 1968, especially as it relates to the behavioral health and the human service community.

At the time, federal initiatives were just implementing the community mental health centers (CMHC) across the country. There was concern that this endeavor, pushed forward by the previous Democrat administration, would be stopped in its tracks by the new Republican administration.
