The COVID-19 pandemic forced health care providers to rapidly implement telehealth services they were not necessarily ready to launch. While digital transformation was probably inevitable in health care, the pandemic forced the adoption of this service delivery model as a reaction, not a strategic action. Now, however, continued expectations for hybrid services have kept provider organizations working on their “next best digital transformation.” My advice to specialty provider executives who are leading these organizations is to now step back, create a plan, and build a strategically motivated hybrid model that truly fits the market’s needs.
