Trends Vs. Fads: Bottom Up Or Top Down?
I say trends are bottom up because they have their roots in circumstances that demand action. They evolve over time as communities and organizations face similar challenges and respond in similar ways. In comparison, fads are top down. Someone or some organization decides to introduce a product or service or organizational model to the marketplace. Sometimes the idea “takes” and sometimes it doesn’t.
