Coleman Health Services was founded in 1978 in Portage County, Ohio, as a non-profit community behavioral health agency. Originally named the Kevin Coleman Center, the organization was named to honor Father Kevin Coleman, a Roman Catholic priest and advocate for mental health services for individuals who at that time were being discharged from residential psychiatric facilities.
