In January 2013, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) released an accountable care organization (ACO) directory for 106 ACOs selected to participate in the Shared Savings Program for the third performance period beginning January 1, 2013. The group also includes 15 Advance Payment Model ACOs, physician-based or rural providers who would benefit from greater access to capital to invest in staff, electronic health record systems, or other infrastructure required to improve care coordination.
