In January 2013, RAND Health published a research report sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on existing evidence and original analyses that documents composition of wellness programs, describes national patterns of program uptake among employers, analyzes the impact of wellness programs on health and cost outcomes, and investigates the use and impact of financial incentives to promote program uptake.
