The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the document on January 5, 2023. The notice informs states of new dates related to unwinding the pause on Medicaid eligibility redeterminations and terminations that was imposed in March 2020 at the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency (PHE). The notice also explains that expiration of the PHE's continuous enrollment condition for states to receive a temporary 6.2 percentage point increase the federal Medicaid matching rate is no longer linked to the end of the PHE.
