Virginia DBHDS Update To Training Center Closure Plan
In this report released January 10, 2014, the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) reported its progress toward complying with a 2012 settlement agreement with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) that requires significant expansion of the community-based system of services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities over a ten-year period. It also requires Virginia to implement a consistent and uniform discharge process in its five training centers to transition the residents and ultimately close four training centers . . .
