MedPAC Presentation Medicare Advantage Program: Status Update, Employer Bid & Hospice Policies
At its January 2014 meeting, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) approved a recommendation directing Congress to include hospice care in Medicare Advantage benefits as of 2016. Hospice has never been included as a required benefit under Medicare Advantage plans. Under the current carve-out system, hospice is a fee-for-service benefit. In this presentation, the MedPAC commissioners present their rationale for the recommendation to include hospice in Medicare Advantage.
