Bill HB 1708 relating to mental health was enacted in Hawaii in 2012. It has a provision on telemedicine that states that in case of a facility in a geographically remote area where no physcian, psychiatrist or pschologist is immediately available, the emergency examination of a patient by a physician, psychologist or psychiatrist can be done through telemedicine, provided the health care giver is licensed.
