2015 Interoperability Standards Advisory
By 2017, electronic health records (EHRs) should be interoperable, according to a timeline proposed by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) of Health Information Technology. On January 29, 2015, the ONC released the timeline and a set of critical actions that should be taken by a range of stakeholders to meet the target. The Standards Advisory represents ONC’s assessment of the best available standards and implementation specifications for clinical health information interoperability as of December 2014.
