Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Ruling Regarding Registration of Juveniles as Sex Offenders

Juveniles convicted of serious sex crimes in federal court can be required to register as sex offenders for at least 25 years, despite the existence of laws about the rights juveniles with criminal convictions. The ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals ruling came on January 25, 2012 in response to a lawsuit filed on behalf of three juveniles convicted in Montana of aggravated sex offenses. The 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals ruling said the provisions of the Juvenile Delinquency Act do not apply to children over age 14 who have committed aggravated sex . . .
