Settlement Agreement in U.S. v. Virginia, Regarding Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the state of Virginia reached a settlement on effective strategies to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities (IDD/DD), in compliance with the American Disabilities Act. The agreement included enhancement of community services, the creation of waiver slots to prevent institutionalization of people with IDD/DD and the development of a statewide crisis system for individuals with IDD/DD.
