City Of San Francisco Community Benefits Agreement With Zendesk, January 2013

In April 2011, the City of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors established the Central Market & Tenderloin Payroll Expense Tax Exclusion. It exempts businesses located within a defined exclusion area from additional payroll tax as they add jobs during any six years in an eight-year period. To apply for the tax exclusion, businesses must enter a community benefit agreement, in which they promise to provide volunteer hours and make cash donations to local non-profit social service organizations, and commit to local purchasing thresholds.
