Letter From CMS To Pennsylvania Department Of Public Welfare Confirming That Behavioral Health Medicaid HealthChoices Contracting Complies With Federal Regulations

On February 7, 2014, the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) announced that it had received confirmation that the contracts were in compliance from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In this notice, CMS agreed with DPW that behavioral health HealthChoices contracting process complies with federal requirements because OMHSAS follows the same policies and procedures it uses for procurements from its non-federal funds. This determination will enable CMS to move forward on approval of Pennsylvania’s contracts and rates that have been under review . . .
