Insurance Coverage for Autism Spectrum Disorders Clay’s Law

January 22, 2009 "Clay's Law" Senate Bill 43 requires private health insurance companies to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder for children up to age 17. The annual maximum benefit is age adjusted; $50,000 for children under the age of nine and $25,000 for children between the ages of nine and 17. Coverage includes: habilitative or rehabilitative care, early intensive behavior therapy, pharmacy care, psychiatric care, psychological care, therapeutic care, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.
