McCoy v. Aetna, et al., Case Number 3:12-cv-00260
February 13, 2012
The complaint was filed by a veteran who served three deployments in Iraq and after returning to civilian life following discharge began experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The plaintiff sought short-term disability coverage under a Aetna policy offered by his employer. Aetna denied coverage on the grounds that the disability was due to an "act of war" and thus excluded by the policy. The complaint challenges the denial.
