Alabama Department of Mental Health Announces Expansion of Community Treatment Options

The Alabama Department of Mental Health (DMH) announced plans to to expand the states community treatment options and to close the four of the six state mental health facilities by the spring of 2013. Under the new structure for expanded community-based care, probate court civil commitments will be treated in psychiatric units at area hospitals or crisis stabilization units operated by community mental health providers across the state.
