Uniform Alcoholism and Intoxication Treatment Act of 1971

The Uniform Alcoholism and Intoxication Treatment Act was prepared in response to the Nations changing attitudes toward alcoholism and alcohol abuse. Although the World Health Organization and the American Medical Association recognized alcoholism as a disease in the 1950's, it was not until the mid-1960's that significant changes began to take place in societys view and treatment of the alcoholic and public inebriate.
