February 23, 2009   New York Assembly Bill 6001 was introduced on February 23, 2009 by State Senator Charles Fuschillo. The bill would require private health insurance companies to cover the diagnosis and treatment of ASD for individuals up to the age of 21. The annual maximum benefit is $36,000. Coverage must be provided for treatments prescribed, provided, or ordered by a licensed physician or licensed psychologist who deems the care medically necessary.
