New York 1199SEIU Health Care Wage & Hour Arbitration Award

On February 25, 2022, arbitrator Martin F. Scheinman ruled in a wage grievance between 42 New York home care provider organizations and their current and former employees represented by New York-based 1199th Service Employees International Union (1199SEIU) United Healthcare Workers East. He ordered the employers to create a $30 million Special Wage Fund. This fund will be used to repay the workers for interruptions to their sleep and meal breaks while working 24-hour cases, and for overtime worked between January and October 2015.
