Medicaid & CHIP: January 2014 Monthly Applications and Eligibility Determinations Report February 28, 2014

The federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) eligibility determination data for October 2013 through January 30, 2014. During that period the states determined Medicaid or CHIP eligibility for 8.9 million people who had applied for Medicaid or CHIP directly or through the state health insurance marketplace, and for 1.3 million whose completed applications for coverage via the federally facilitated marketplaces were assessed as eligible for Medicaid or CHIP and forwarded to the states for final eligibility determination . . .
