New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner Jennifer Velez reported to the New Jersey Assembly Budget Committee on the status of the DHS Medicaid Comprehensive Waiver proposal submitted to the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in September 2011. Once CMS approval is granted, DHS intends to consolidate nine separate waivers into one 1115 Medicaid waiver to simplify administration and improve service delivery. A key aspect calls for DHS to implement managed behavioral health care for adults.
