The Financial Benefit To Hospitals From State Expansion Of Medicaid: Timely Analysis of Immediate Health Policy Issues

In March 2013, Stan Dorn, Matthew Buettgens, John Holahan, and Caitlin Carroll of the Urban Institute released a paper discussing how state Medicaid expansion will be economically favorable for hospitals, especially in light of the current Affordable Care Act (ACA) legislation. The paper contains statistical evidence showing how Medicaid expansion can decrease the uninsured population, as well as significantly increase hospital revenues. A detailed appendix is also attached at the end of the paper to shed light on the research that was completed.
