CMS Letter To MedPAC Regarding Estimates Of Calendar Year 2014 Physician Fee Schedule & SGR

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) informed the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission with its estimates of the calendar year 2014 physician fee schedule conversion factor, updates to the factor, and the sustainable growth rate (SGR). CMS noted that Congress imposed a zero SGR update (meaning no change to physician reimbursements) for calendar year 2013. However, for calendar year 2014, the SGR update would cut physician reimbursements significantly, by as much as 24%.
