California's San Diego County sought a contractor to provide short-term (up to three months) stabilization treatment with psychotropic medication to children and youth with serious emotional disturbance referred by the Probation Department, Child Welfare Services, and Juvenile Court. Vista Hill Foundation submitted the only proposal by the April 12, 2012 deadline, and was subsequently awarded the contract. The contract, valued at $4.4 million, started July 1, 2012 and runs through June 30, 2017.
